Sneak Peek at Bionic Style’s Upcoming Color Scheme

Behind the scenes, Bionic Style is getting a complete redesign (finally!) and I wanted to share a preview of the new color scheme…  It’s inspired by my love of deep, dark reds and the bright accents of turquoise.

For readers of my other website, Bionic Beauty, here’s my swatch graphic for both blogs’ redesigns.  Deep purples for Bionic Beauty; and the dark reds for Bionic Style!

I’m fully aware that these color schemes may not be 2013 trendy but I don’t really care. Whenever possible, I honestly try to follow my own heart, style, and mind. And these two color schemes suit me just perfectly.

Keep it cool peeps,

Argyle Android Screen Layout

Ta-da!  I had an odd desire for some argyle wallpaper to base a new home screen design… Do you know how freaking difficult it is to find a nice argyle wallpaper?  After hours of searching Google Images and Deviant-Art, I settled on making my own.

The widgets, time, date, weather forecast, and the navigation icons are all created using UCCW.  The rectangular “picture” on my main screen updates auto-magically to reflect the current weather condition.

Post questions below… As always, I’m happy to help!

Stay Bionic,
Jami

Moleskine Monday: Dealthy Hallows painted cahier

I just finished this one-of-a-kind, hand-painted Moleskine pocket cahier featuring The Deathly Hallows symbol from the Harry Potter book and movie series.

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Moleskine journal

My hand-painted HP Deathly Hallows themed Molie!

The notebook features the Deathly Hallows symbol painted in deep navy blue with a shimmer top coat that changes from teal to turquoise to denim blue to emerald green to purple in various lighting. A truly magical effect!

I made one for myself, one for a close friend and a third journal to sell on Etsy. It’s currently up for $10.

On a related note… many theaters opened their pre-ticket sales to the final Harry Potter movie this weekend. Deathly Hallows Part Two opens at 12:01am on July 15 and I just got my tickets!! I’ll be going in costume, of course. Anyone else planning to attend the movie on opening night?

My Weekly Playlist – Music to drive by

Since it’s Labor Day weekend and many people will be spending hours behind the wheel of the family truckster… I figured this would be the perfect time to share my favorite “Driving Music”.

Driving music for me usually fits into one of two areas — you can either sing along with it (even if you are completely tone-deaf like me, which makes even my dog cover his ears) or it’s upbeat, bouncy, and seems to help the miles fly by.

  • The entire Classified album by Bond
  • Stop the Rock by Apollo 440

  • Moulin Rouge soundtrack

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

Welcome to Moleskine Monday: You in 5 Words

Welcome to Bionic Style’s very first Moleskine Monday feature! Each week I’ll feature a bit of news, artwork, or journaling tips from the popular brand of little black notebooks. Of course, you don’t have to be a Moleskine fan to enjoy the series. Any and all notebook and journaling fanatics are welcome!

I posted this sketchnote from my Moleskine journal on Bionic Beauty last week – What five words would you use to describe yourself?

Being the verbose gal that I am, I couldn’t limit myself to just five words. So I picked the five I identified with most strongly and then had fun creating a word jumble to incorporate the rest.

Here are my top five words…

  1. Geeky
  2. Strong
  3. Creative
  4. Happy
  5. Intense

As you can see, I enjoy doodling in my Moleskine. This sketchnote incorporates pencils (of various hardness), gouache paints (the purple in “stronger”), paint pens, and a variety of fountain pens and inks.

Feel free to share your own links below to any journal or Moleskine artwork you’ve created!
